Lia DiNunzio

Lia DiNunzio is currently a 23 year-old recent graduate from the University of Buffalo. Her first career ambition was to become an International Lawyer, sparking interest while living in France at the shy age of 15. During her nine month stay in Bordeaux she became emersed in the cultlure and immediately picked up the language. She can still fluently understand and comprehend the language. Her favorite ability is to dream in French, which she occasionally does today.

 

Following her return from France she graduated from the Buffalo Seminary in 2011 near the beautiful Bidwell Parkway and Elmwood Village. After high-school graduation she began her college career at SUNY Geneseo. Lia quickly learned that living in a rural area wasn't of interest and moved back home to attend the University of Buffalo. During her college years she began volunteering for numerous not-for-profit organizations including The Senese Project, The Congo Leadership Organization, Hospice Buffalo, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNY.

 

During this time Lia's mother Nina DiNunzio passed away from an unexpected and very brief four week battle with Stage IV breast cancer. This emotional loss was an extremely difficult time for Lia and her family but she continued to accomplish her goals. Soon after this challenging time Lia purchased her first rental property at the age of 20. She and her sister continue to live in half of the duplex she purchased two years ago. 

 

After her mother's passing Lia desired to dig deeper into the non-profit sector which led  her to step out of her comfort zone and become Miss Buffalo International 2014. This opportunity allowed Lia to use her social status to attend major networking events, and local fundraisers. The connections Lia made during her reign as Miss Buffalo International continue to prove beneficial to her career aspirations.

 

Lia represented New York State on July 29th, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida at the Miss International 2016 competition. She prepared for the competition with a daily fitness and nutrition plan provided by Impact Fitness inside the HarborCenter in Downtown Buffalo, while actively involving herself within the community.
