It's no surprise that your body needs water to function. Every cell and organ in your body depends on water for proper function. When the weather is hot your body rapidly loses water through sweat, making it difficult to stay hydrated. If you're not drinking enough water, just one day in the summer sun can result in dehydration. As women, we also know that water also helps us maintain healthy skin because it releases toxins from out body through urination.

If you're pregnant, physically active, or spending a day at the beach your chances for dehydration increase. Everyone should consume an average of 6-8 (8 ounce) glasses of water per day. If you're constantly on the go (like I am) it can be difficult to reach your daily recommendation.

Use these tips to ensure you're staying hydrated this summer:

1) Purchase a fancy water bottle: Using plastic isn't just harmful to the environment, it is also expensive. Buying a fancy water bottle will give you the tiniest bit of motivation you need to always carry it around.

2) Schedule your drinking time: Have one glass when you wake up, drinking water in the morning will flush out any toxins that built up while you slept. I always try to drink a warm water with lemon before I start my day! If you're really bad at ensuring you're drinking enough throughout the day - set your alarm as a friendly reminder!

3) Fruit infusion: Drinking water can seem boring. Mixing fresh limes or lemons can make it taste much more refreshing! For even more fun fruit infusion ideas check out this article by Shape Magazine!

4) Restaurant Rule: If you're dining out - always order water! Water is free so it'll keep your tab low. I can't tell you the last time I ordered a soda at a restaurant...and I feel pretty good about that!

5) Water from other sources: Lunch is a great way to consume water from food. Pack water-dense items into your lunch box. For example, watermelon is 92% water, 6% sugar. And did you know zucchini, radish, and celery are 95% water?
