So the last couple of days have been rough. I mean, really rough! I'm exhausted and feel sluggish because I haven't been working out as intensely lately. On top of it, the cloudy skies and rain do not inspire me to be active. So when I first walked into the office today I did some research on easy and effective ways to motivate myself while I'm at the office.
1) Play up-beat music - Spotify has some decent playlists that are guaranteed to keep you in a good mood.
2) Schedule your day by the hour - Break down big tasks or projects into little accomplishments, and every hour get your head out of the desk and take a walk around the office for a nice stretch.
3) Fill in a friend - I think this is the most effective way to motivate myself. I'll text a friend and complain about whatever it is I don't feel like doing. This makes me accountable, because I've acknowledged the task that needs to be completed, despite my feelings. I'll tell my friend to check in on me in an hour or two to see if I've completed the task. If I have, great lets celebrate! ....If I have not - she'll make me feel guilty.
4) Set Rewards - Okay I know we're technically not children, but everyone wants the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. So it's Tuesday and you're already wishing it was Thursday. The day is dragging and you're questioning whether or not your job makes you feel fulfilled. Take a deep breath, and suck it up. Allow yourself to indulge in froyo after you leave the office, that way you have a nice treat to look forward to after work.
5) YouTube inspirational speeches - Don't do this on your work computer. Instead, take three minutes before you leave the house in the morning to look up motivational speakers. Sometimes someone can say just what you need to hear! Check my favorite video below!
